Performance anxiety

I had my performance review at work this past Monday and it was actually a strongly positive experience — not like any other performance review I’ve had before. I am really happy with the results.

The highlights are necessarily personal, but one of the goals I’m looking forward to is releasing some open source software to the community. ActiveState is a great place to work, and I’m lucky to have a supervisor like Gozer.

In other vaguely performance-related news I’m happy to see that mod_perl is easily supported on CentOS. My plans are something like this:

  • automatic POD-to-HTML
  • automatic LaTeX-to-HTML
  • photographs and other large files stored on S3
  • as much as possible, make everything as simple and efficient as possible

It seems possible to do — now it’s just a matter of a strategic tuit shipment.
